organic strawberry ice cream

Santa brought oldest daughter a bright pink ice cream maker for christmas this year. At first Santa was going to bring her a play/make believe ice cream maker- but I’m so glad that he decided to get her the real deal. A little pricy but boy oh boy was she thrilled! To be honest I don’t know who was more excited- her or her mommy 😉

Doesn’t this look like a toy? It is- but a truly amaze one for adults.

You can make any kind of ice cream under the sun including my daughter’s fave old fashioned strawberry!

1 1/2 cups of organic fresh strawberries, chopped into small pieecs

3/4 cup organic whole milk

2/3 cup orgnaic granulated sugar

1 pinch of organic salt

1 1/2 cups organic heavy cream

1 1/2 teaspoons pure organic vanilla extract

1.  Put the strawberries into the bowl of any food processor fitted with a chopping blade (we use the ninja~!)

Pulse strawberries until rough/finely chopped (depending on preference). Reserve in bowl.

2.  In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer on low speed or whisk to combine the milk, sugar and salt until the sugar is dissolved. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla. Stir reserved strawberries with all the juices. Cover and refrigerate 1-2 hours, or overnight.

3.  Turn on your ice cream maker We have the Cuisinart.

Pour the mixture into the frozen freezer bowl and let mix until thickened, about 20 mins.

The ice cream will have a soft creamy texture.

If a firmer consistency is desired, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and place in freezer for 2 hours.

Remove from freezer about 15 mins before serving.
