sundaes
perfectly salty sweet creamy goodness.
It was a 95 degree saturday, and we had no plans. I just knew I had to make a sweet treat to surprise the fam! Needless to say they devoured it without a single word.
Make your sauces first (and let them cool)
Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar 2 tablespoons cocoa 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 1/2-2 tablespoons butter 1/4 cup water (more or less, as needed to make a stirable consistency) 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Combine sugar, cocoa, and salt in small saucepan.
Add enough water to make stirable consistency.
Add butter to cocoa mixture.
Bring to a boil over medium high heat, stirring constantly.
Allow to boil for 1 minute, stirring.
Remove from heat.
Add vanilla.
Let cool until serving time.
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar 1/4 cup water 3/4 cup heavy creme 3 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter 1 teaspoon gray sea salt, crushed or kosher salt
Directions
In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the sugar and water over medium-low heat until the sugar dissolves. Increase the heat and bring to a boil, without stirring. If necessary, use a wet pastry brush to wash down any crystals on the side of the pan. Boil until the syrup is a deep amber color, about 5 to 6 minutes. Remove the sugar from the heat and carefully whisk in the heavy cream. The mixture will bubble. Stir in the unsalted butter, and salt. Transfer the caramel to a dish and cool.
Time to prep ur popcorn-
For the popcorn: Take 2 tablespoons of cooled salted carmel and put in a bowl. mix with unsalted popcorn. The ration will always be 2 tablespoons of carmel for every 3 cups of pop corn. Toss and mix and make sure each piece of popcorn gets coated evenly. Every ten minutes toss the popcorn so it doesn’t stick together until completely dry.
Just add your ingredients in any way you like. I love using Bluebell Vanilla Icecream, a layer of chocolate, a sprinkle of popcorn, and tiny little bit more carmel on top of that, and repeat. You can do whatever your heart desires.
The CRUNCH of the popcorn, the chocolate, and the carmel and sweet vanilla give this dessert a very decadent feel. Everytime I eat this, I feel like I am eating a ice cream candy bar (you should def add nuts too if you have them on hand!)
Enjoy every bite!
