seared

seared, teriyaki style

Now this is probably the easiest recipe I will ever post. It’s a recipie my mom handed down to me YEARS ago, and I’m sharing this secret with those of you who really want to impress at your next dinner party.

Whenever I whip up this meal for guests they are so impressed, because presentation+taste=is fine cuisine. You would never guess how easy this is to make.

Seared Salmon Teriyaki

you need 4 thick filets of salmon

get a bowl and mix these three ingredients:

1 cup of low sodium soy sauce

1 cup of sugar

half a cup of honey

3 tbsp of minced ginger

Pour it into a large ziplock bag, and add your filets. Massage the filets with your hands and put them in the refrigerator for at least 5 hours.

When you are ready to eat, get a pan, add a spoon of olive oil, and sear away. Flip each filet over every few mins so that it doesn’t burn or overcook. Fish is meant to be nice and juicy, NOT overcooked.

When you see a Carmely like color on top of the pink salmon, you know it is done.

There really is no need for any photos given how easy this is huh?

I serve my salmon with garlic herb rice, cilantro grilled snap peas, and a glass of any kind of red usually merlot.

 enjoy.

  18. Thank you for the inspiration! I was trying to figure what to do with the salmon fillets I’d defrosted when I just happened to go through your posts. Boy, was that quick and easy. I’ve got the fillets marinating in the fridge now.

  21. Zeeona says:

This ‘ziplock bag for marinating’ idea is great! No flavour escaping, no fish smell in the fridge. I will try this recipe for other type of fish too. Do you think it will work?

    • sooae says:

yep, i use this for all kinds of marination. It’s for the smell factor, but also for freshness and plain old accessibility. Things pouched away are so easy to just defrost and grill. thanks for stopping by my website! xO!
